2015 Revelation: Akpabio's devious plan to take the Akpan Brothers Out of the Race!

It is no longer news that the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Godswill Akpabio, is bent on stopping his former Finance Commissioner, Bassey Albert Akpan from succeeding him in 2015. What is news, perhaps, is the devious manner in which the governor is going about his campaign of calumny against Akpan. TheOracleNaija can authoritatively reveal how the governor plans to scuttle the governorship ambition of his erstwhile closest commissioner.

In pursuit of his hate mission, Akpabio has drafted Akpan’s older brother Chief Ime Albert Akpan into the race with monetary inducements said to be in hundreds of millions of naira and a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. We were, however, told that the governor is merely using the older Akpan to achieve his aim of stopping Bassey, who is believed to be immensely popular among the people, as there are no plans to allow Ime to move ahead with his ambition of becoming governor.

It emerged over the weekend that some die-hard loyalists of the governor, who are known to be desperate about imposing the current Secretary to the State Government, Emmanuel Udom, on the state in the 2015 elections, have also perfected plans to ensure that the Akpan brothers do not partake in the primaries coming up in November 2014, after all.
According to our sources, “plans are underway to stage a physical attack on Chief Ime Albert Akpan and inflict injuries on him, sometime in the middle of October. And although he would be thoroughly roughened up, his life would be spared such that he would be able to give information about those who attacked him”.

We learnt from our sources that part of the brief for those who would be carrying out the attack on Ime would be to leave hints that would make it seem like the attack came from his younger brother Bassey, which would then pave the way for the authorities to pick  up Bassey for interrogation and eventually scheme him out of the gubernatorial primaries of which he is a believed to be well favoured at the moment.

While Akpabio is capitalising on the evident envy which Ime seems to have for his younger brother, Bassey, our sources also hinted that Ime would not be the first person to fall for the governor’s manipulation. Said one of them, “he did the same thing to Benjy Okoko, and even went ahead to buy him several Toyota Hilux Vans for his campaign but now he has abandoned the man. So the lesson is that no one in his right senses should allow the governor to use and dump him".
